South-African cellist Abel Selaocoe is among the most exciting artists on today’s international music scene, creating programs that blend genres, eras, and cultures while combining composition and improvisation. At the Pierre Boulez Saal, he presents Entanglements, a new collaborative work inspired by African folk tales. Written together with composer and director Michel van der Aa, it blends musical traditions from Central Africa and Ethiopia with live electronics and contemporary sounds. Selaocoe will also perform music by Bach and Dall’Abaco, recent pieces by British-Japanese composer Ben Nobuto and cellist Colin Alexander, as well as several of his own compositions.19:30
